NORTH BALTIMORE – Millstream Area Credit Union collected more than $700 in donations to install a swing for special needs students at E A Powell Elementary School thanks to the generosity of its members and staff.
The credit union set a goal to raise $500 in the month of July to be donated to North Baltimore Local Schools to install a special needs swing. By selling candy bars, collecting coin and cash donations, and holding a prize drawing, the credit union successfully met and exceeded its goal by raising a total of $701.65. The additional funds raised will go toward installing a second special needs swing at E A Powell Elementary School.
The credit union has a formal program in place to raise funds and support local causes, such as playing BINGO with residents of The Heritage Nursing Home, raising money for a local nonprofit such as Children’s Mentoring Connection, and providing for the care of a service dog for a local resident who suffers from seizures. Although the activities vary, they all have one thing in common–they go to support local causes and programs.
“Giving back to the community is a fundamental part of who we are at Millstream Area Credit Union,” says Josh Reams, Executive Vice President. “Our staff is thrilled to be part of a family that cares about supporting its community. It’s The Millstream Way!”
