TOLEDO – Did you know the Toledo Zoo started with the donation of a woodchuck in 1900? Well, it did and education staff members from the Zoo and Aquarium will talk about it at a special History of the Toledo Zoo program to be conducted Thursday, Jan. 26, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Alzheimer’s Association, Northwest Ohio Chapter, 2500 N. Reynolds Road.
The program is designed specifically for those with mild memory impairment or who recently have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease or a related disorder. Guests are welcome and a $5 per person program fee is suggested.
The interactive presentation will walk participants through more than 100 years of memories, including WPA building projects, Wonder Valley, the Tunnel under the Trail as well as amazing zoo and aquarium past and current residents.
Registration is requested, but not necessary. For more information contact Brenda Hendricks, early stage coordinator, at the Alzheimer’s Association, Northwest Ohio Chapter, 800-272-3900.
