Mary “Lou” Wickard, 79, of North Baltimore, died at 5:23 a.m., Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at Briar Hill Health Campus, North Baltimore.
She was born on March 23, 1936, in North Baltimore, to the late Charles and Florence (Johnson) Bretz. She married Robert “Bob” Wickard, Sr. on October 10, 1952, and he preceded her in death on June 21, 2005.
Lou is survived by her sons: Robert (Lori) Wickard, Jr. of Fostoria, Randy (Eunice) Wickard of rural Findlay and Ron Wickard of Cygnet; her daughter, Robin (Brian) Edwards of Cygnet; her brother, Russell Bretz of North Baltimore; a special family member, Alvin Rank of Carey; her 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brothers: Carl, Charles, Ralph, Richard, Samuel, Robert, Melvin, Kenneth, William and Douglas Bretz; her sister, Elsie Thompson. Lou was a lifetime member of the North Baltimore American Legion Post 539 Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing bingo, going to her grandchildren’s sporting events, her family reunions, but her greatest love in life was her family.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Briar Hill Health Campus for all of the special care they provided for Lou.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 11, 2015, at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, North Baltimore, with Reverend Susan Kronbach, Dr. Samuel Wickard and Pastor Randy Wickard officiating. Burial will be in Jerry City Cemetery, Portage Township.
Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, North Baltimore.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Good Shepherd United Methodist and/or North Baltimore American Legion Post 539 Auxiliary.
