From CSX – “At 7:30 Tuesday morning, two locomotives in CSX’s North Baltimore rail yard sideswiped one another at low speed, causing one to derail and spill approximately 200 gallons of diesel fuel.
CSX personnel, Wood County’s Sherriff’s Dept. and the Ohio EPA responded onsite. The spill was contained and no water ways were affected. Cleanup efforts are underway and are expected to be completed this afternoon. There were no injuries reported or impacts to train operations in the area.”
Original Post – North Baltimore Fire and EMS responded to the CSX Intermodal Northwest Ohio Yard two miles west of North Baltimore, Ohio, around 7:30 am. The call was for a derailment and fuel spill.
Here are photos from a distance of the possible derailment, as one power unit (locomotive) appears to possibly be off the tracks.
