North Baltimore Cub Scout Pack 372 December Happenings Newsletter
Submitted by Jennifer Vanlerberg
During the month of December, Pack 372’s boys were bustling. We enjoyed bowling at Ten Pin Lanes. Some, more than others. I personally was rooting for the bumpers that the younger boys used. Still, it was a really great time.
The Bears toured North Baltimore’s Police and Fire Departments and checked out the new ambulance with the automated lift. They also constructed their own wooden toolboxes, and I personally know at least one Bear Cub got his filled with tools from Santa.
Webelos One worked on family trees and planning a family day.
Webelos Two worked on a time line of their personal scout story. Crafts were crafted and maybe even a bird house or derby car were begun.
Next month will be the annual “Pine Wood Derby.”
This month’s special events include a lock-in at Bowling Green State University’s Field House on January 14th and 15th. There will be sports, games, food, and a movie for whoever manages to stay up that late.
On January 22nd at 6:00 PM at the American Legion here in town, you can purchase a handmade wooden birdhouse or feeder. Adult females paired with the cubs to create a one of a kind bird home. The houses will be judged and then auctioned off as a fundraiser for the program. You could own your very own Vanlerberg masterpiece. We made three. Of course, family and friends and community members are welcome to come and bid. (Not against me, of course, since I will be spending my paycheck buying our three back…) But seriously, support a scout and buy something beautiful for your yard this spring. Until then, we’ll be shaping blocks of wood into speedy wonders during derby prep.
And did I hear hockey? Yes, a Bowling Green State University hockey game is also on the schedule for the scouts in February. Huge thanks to all the Grandmas, moms, aunts, and friends that worked so hard on the birdhouses. Grandma Vanlerberg pounded in nails like a champ. We hope to see you all there!
