NB Cub Scouts – Pack 372 Update – Jan. 23

submitted by Cub Master Eric Trout

Pack Growing
Cub Scout Pack #372 of North Baltimore is now 41 boys strong.  Over the past three years we have slowly grown larger. Our Pack is made up of boys from North Baltimore, Cygnet & Bairdstown.  Two years ago we had 31 boys registered and last year we had 36 boys. It is not just boys attending weekly meetings, it is 41 extremely active and involved boys participating week after week guided by an awesome group of Den Leaders, Committee Members and Parents.

Activities
These boys have been involved in many activities rounding out the end of 2015.  They participated in Flag Raising Ceremonies for Varsity Football Games, Halloween & Homecoming Parades.  They joined with Boy Scout Troop #315 in collecting food for the local food pantry and they also took some time to ring the bell for the Salvation Army at Great Scot. I almost forgot, we even spent some time cleaning up the Slippery Elm Trail.  The boys collected almost 6 bags of trash in a 3 mile stretch.

In between all of these Service Projects, they participated in their weekly or bi-monthly den meetings learning the new scouting program for Cubs that just got adopted this past June. Each den has been actively participating in different “adventures” related to camping, hiking, CPR and various other outdoor activities. It has been a busy 2015.

Whew…now we have jumped into 2016 with both feet, running full speed ahead.  They have already been involved in a Wood District Lock-in at the BGSU fieldhouse, where 15 boys from our pack stayed up all night playing different sports activities, including their favorite, dodgeball.

Our latest event was our biennial father (or other male) – son Cake Bake & Auction. (See additional story at this link:

Pinewood Derby Time
Now it is time to get those pinewood derby cars prepped, painted and racing.  On Sunday, February 7, 2016 at 1:15 pm we are shining up the aluminum derby track so the Cub Scouts can send their homemade pinewood derby cars down the track.  Come support your local Cub Scouts, cheering them on race after race.  There is even an open derby after the boys are done running for parents, siblings and any others interested in racing.  If you are interested in the open derby, please contact the Cubmaster or any Den Leader for rules.

Also, after the Cub Scout Pinewood Derby and Open Race, we are helping the Girls Scouts again this year race their Pinewood Derby Cars.

We have many more activities coming up in 2016, so if your son is interested in joining Cub Scouts or you wish to support your local pack, keep your eyes open for future activities.

Thanks, Cubmaster, Eric Trout
