NB Downtown Revitalization & Development Plan Update April 7

The Village of North Baltimore, Ohio has been working with Poggemeyer Design Firm to Revitalize & Develop our existing downtown area. A series of projects began March 20, 2017 with the Main St. waterline. Replacing the existing Main Street waterline between State Street and Broadway Street is the first phase in the planned Four Phase Revitalization of Downtown.

The second phase will replace the Main Street waterline between Broadway Street and Walnut Street. Phase Three will see the installation of new sidewalks, curbs, catch basins and street lighting downtown and finally Phase Four will re-pave Main Street between State Street and Walnut Street.

PHASE I – Replacing waterline on Main St. between State St. and Broadway St. (Spring 2017)

Project is grant funded with funds from Ohio Public Works Commission

PHASE II- Replacing waterline on Main St. between Broadway St. and Walnut St. (Fall 2017)

Project is grant funded with funds from the Ohio Public Works Commission

PHASE III- Install new sidewalks, curbs, catch basins, trash receptacles, street lights (Fall 2018)

Project is partially funded by TIP (Transportation Improvement Program) Funds

PHASE IV- Milling & Paving Main St. from State St. to Walnut St. Main St. will be widened by 4 ft.

We are currently searching for grant funding for this phase (Spring 2019)

The Downtown Revitalization will enhance the esthetics of our community and should encourage business to locate in the downtown area. This is a project that Village Council has been hoping to bring to fruition for more than a decade now. As with any major reconstruction project there are going to be some inconveniences to our residents and downtown business owners. There will be several weeks that parking will be unavailable in the downtown block and there may be temporary water service interruptions. It is the intention of the village and contractors to limit the disruptions as much as possible but please be aware they are possible.

These are exciting projects for our village businesses as our downtown will finally receive some much needed TLC. Thank you for your understanding while these projects are completed. Please contact us at the village office with any questions you may have.
