Almanac – November
November is for the Ninth Month.
Latin Novem “nine” Literally: “November mensis” – ninth month.
November’s Birthstone is the topaz, which is a yellow gemstone,.
November’s Flower is the Chrysanthemum, which symbolizes “optimism / cheerfulness.”
Autumn is a second spring when every leaf 2 is a flower.” ― Albert Camus
November’s Full Moon is the Beaver Moon. There is disagreement over the origin of November’s beaver moon name. Some say it comes from Native Americans setting beaver traps during this month, while others say the name comes from the heavy activity of beavers building their winter dams. Another name is the Frost Moon. November’s Full Moon will be on the 25th.

Veterans’ Day
November 11, is the anniversary of the Armistice which was signed by the Allies and the Germans in 1918, ending World War I.
In 1927 Congress issued a resolution requesting President Calvin Coolidge to call upon officials to display the Flag of the United States on all government buildings on November 11.
After World War II, there were many new veterans who had little or no association with World War I. Leaders of Veterans’ groups decided to try to correct this and make November 11 the time to honor all who had fought in various American wars, not just in World War I.
The name was changed to Veterans’ Day by Act of Congress on May 24, 1954. In October of that year, President Eisenhower called on all citizens to observe the day and changed the name to Veterans’ Day in honor of the servicemen of all America’s wars.
