Spring brings showers, flowers, and graduations. Powell’s Preschool held their annual music program and graduation to the delight of a full house at North Baltimore High School on May 14. The program began with the recognition of special guests and those staff members who work with these students. A slide show of the year was shown. Parents and students enjoyed seeing the experiences from the year on the big screen.
The musical selections complete with props included “Music Man”, “S-M-I-L-E”, and a jazzy version of “Itsy, Bitsy Spider”. Students danced and added hand motions to these numbers which added to the enjoyment of the audience. The class leaders, students returning to preschool next year, were presented certificates.
The thirty-eight graduating preschoolers donned mortar boards and were presented individually to those assembled. Each student was introduced with what they hope to be when they grow up. The students then walked up on a bridge, shook the principal’s hand and had their picture taken.
After the completion of the ceremony it was announce that Linda Leow, one of the preschool teachers, will be retiring at the end of the school year. Presented flowers and wished good luck from the students, she received a standing ovation.
Parents, relatives, and students then enjoyed a celebration reception.
