North Baltimore traffic is going to be suffering just a little bit more, thanks to CSX! Closures of NB’s crossings for paving has begun.
According to Village Administrator, Allyson Murray, CSX has communicated, via email the following schedule and information:
CSX upcoming road closures:
Below is a list of road crossing that CSX will be repaving the week of July 18:
Poe Street North Baltimore – Close Friday July 15, 2016 – Open Friday July 22, 2016
Tarr Street North Baltimore – Close Friday July 15, 2016 – Open Friday July 22, 2016
Second Street North Baltimore – Close Sunday July 17, 2016 – Open Monday July 25, 2016
Mitchell Road North Baltimore – Close Sunday July 17, 2016 – Open Monday July 25, 2016
(Main Street is not included in the paving schedule)
And in Deshler:
Custar Road Deshler – Close Monday July 18, 2016 – Open Monday July 25, 2016
At this time, only Tarr Street appears to be CLOSED and work has commenced.
Murray reports that she communicated to CSX the following: We are politely requesting that you keep this to one crossing at a time. These are four of the five crossings that give access the south side of our village. Closing any more than one at a time will drastically reduce our ability to get our safety forces to any emergency.
Murray also told them that Good Ole Summer Time Day, the annual village festival (ALWAYS the last Saturday in July), is Saturday, July 30. The festival brings thousands of visitors to NB and the closed crossings will impede these visitors from safely and easily accessing our village.
Murray said that the CSX Roadmaster responded: “We can do that.”

This “recent response” is to a July 2016 NBXpress article.
The article was in 2016. The response was yesterday…
Wondering about the regular flow of CSX cars moving on rails and a legal time set for trains: can only block crossing with stopped trains for so long legally..know they have done so many times…
If they are closing 4 of them till the 22nd, how is that one at a time?
If you read through to the end of the post, there is inference of CSX’s cooperation with the village. It will be interesting to see what happens in reality!
This is great. It will make the crossings better.
Thanks CSX
