The July Vegetable Garden of the Month belongs to a new family in town, Tom and Marlane Mier. It is located at 220 E High St. (Marcus Hanna’s house).
Tom said they moved here from Michigan and that he planted 10 acres there, so he thinks this is a tiny little garden. I think it is pretty large for in town. Tom said he has done nothing except water it but the plants are huge!
There is a variety of vegetables including climbing beans, tomatoes, lettuces, cucumbers, etc. Notice in one of the photos the wire cage over the lettuces. A deer enjoyed eating some of the lettuce so he added the wire so there would be some left for them!
