NB wins Homecoming Basketball over P. H.

The North Baltimore High School Boys Basketball team took care of business in The Jungle on Saturday night (Jan. 17), taking down the Patriots of Patrick Henry.

In a game that ended up much closer than it should, the Tigers (5-6, 2-3 BVC) held on at the end for the 62 – 59 win. NB  built a 46 – 38 lead near the end of the third quarter, but ended up losing momentum to the never say die Patriots.

Lane Bishop would drain 13 free throws for the game, on the way to 24 points, along with 4 assists to lead the Tigers. Chad Wright hit 15 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, had two steals and blocked several shots. Levi Newcomer hit 9 points and Noah Brian scored 8 and had 2 steals. Sean Watson added 4 and Derek McMahon put in 2 points. Jacob Pelton and Christian Richmond provided inspired defensive efforts to help the Tigers to their 5th win of the season.

Patrick Henry (3 – 8) was led four in double figures: Alex Sheele 19, AJ Waner 15, Mitch Bonner 12 and Jacob Ehlers 11.

In the Junior Varsity game, the boys notched the win, hanging on in a game they should have won by 10 or so points, by a score of 38 – 34.
