NBHS Paws for a Cause Holding Zumba Marathon

Are you looking for a fun way to spend a Saturday night? Well, you can spend March 28th, 2015 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. dancing and raising money for a good cause all at the same time! North Baltimore High School’s very own club, Paws for a Cause, will be hosting a Zumba Marathon in order to raise money for The Cocoon Shelter, located in Bowling Green, Ohio. The Cocoon Shelter is “committed to ending domestic violence and empowering those affected by it.”
Paws for a Cause is a community service club at NBHS that was started by five senior students and the junior and senior English teacher, Ms. Stefanie Lauer. This is the club’s first year at NBHS and by the end of it, the club will have put on a UNICEF trick-or-treat, coordinated with Powell teachers at Christmastime, raised funds during Valentine’s day for projects, and held a Zumba Marathon. Any NBHS student, grades 9 through 12 can join the group; it currently has about 15 active members.
For the Zumba Marathon, Z Pulse from Findlay, OH and Kathy Kapostasy out of Fostoria, OH have agreed to graciously donate their time to lead the dances. All ages are able to participate in this fun event! For those who don’t prefer dancing but still want to participate, there will be some seating available. The marathon will be held in the auditorium of the North Baltimore High School, located at 2012 Tiger Drive, North Baltimore, Ohio 45872.
Preregistration can be done by emailing Ms. Lauer your name and shirt size at [email protected] We ask that you do not call the high school, but instead send your size in through email. Preregistration and shirt costs $15 that you can pay at the door that night. If you wish to for sure receive an event t-shirt, you must be registered by March 23rd at the latest. Registration will also occur at the door for $5 minimum donation, but you will not be guaranteed a t-shirt. Doors open at 6:30 the night of the event and a brief introduction for the cause will be given shortly after.
Domestic Violence occurs frequently throughout society. Raising money for a shelter that helps those involved in the violence would make a big difference and would help so many families in the long run. A Zumba Marathon will be the perfect way to make a difference in the world while also having fun.
We hope to see everyone there.

If you have any questions about the event, you can contact Stefanie Lauer, the advisor of Paws for a Cause, at [email protected]
