The North Baltimore High School Boys Basketball team made the short trip out to Elmwood High School on Saturday night, with the ride home being quite a bit longer, as the Tigers let one get away, falling to the Royals 62 – 55.
NB took the lead after the first quarter 19 – 13, then traded points at 9 each, to hold the 6 point lead at the half. In the 3rd quarter, Elmwood cut the lead to just 2 points. In the 4th period the Royals outscored NB 24 – 15 to pick up the non-league win.
Sean Watson and Chad Wright led NB with 15 points each. Derek McMahon hit for 9, Levi newcomer scored 8, Lane Bishop 5 and Noah Brian one point. Newcomer and Bishop had 2 steals each; Bishop also had 6 assists.
NB out rebounded Elmwood 30 to 26, with Chad Wright grabbing 14. NB had just nine turnovers and shot reasonably well, but still fall to 1 – 1.
Trevor Solether led the Royals with 26 points while Tayte Lentz and Jarrett Childress added 14 each.
The boys travel to Vanlue to open the Blanchard Valley Conference season.
