Norman Apple, 82, of North Baltimore, died at 1:45 a.m., Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at the Toledo Hospital.
He was born on August 18, 1932, in Wood County to the late Kenneth and Ida (Weiker) Apple. He married Anna Spillman and they were divorced, together they had four children: Kenneth (Jen) Apple of Findlay, Kip (Tammy) Apple of Findlay, Cindy Johnson of Bloomdale and Kimela (Roger) Banks of Weston.
He is also survived by his brother, Donald Apple of Paulding; his companion of 33 years, Sandra Swick of North Baltimore, and her children: Peggy (Bill) Zechman of Findlay, Mary (David) Waltermyer of Fostoria, Carol (Paul) Eckman and Bill Dutton of Findlay; 13 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Norman retired from Britten Builders, and prior to that he co-owned his own construction company, Dependable Builders, for 20 years.
He was a member of the North Baltimore American Legion Post 539, and was a former North Baltimore volunteer fireman.
Norm loved to garden, traveling and going to flea markets. He was a very loving father, grandfather and friend who had a special bond with his granddaughter, Michelle Barton of Rudolph.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, North Baltimore, with Pastor Jim Baney and Roger Banks officiating. Burial will be in New Maplewood Cemetery, North Baltimore.
Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME.
