Holly Emahiser Ryder, of North Baltimore, is the new Interim Director of the North Baltimore Public Library. She has been appointed since August 11th, by the Library Board, to fill the position. It became vacant when former Director Lori Brogan accepted a new position at Briar Hill Health Campus.
In other Board action, Cheryl Halter was named the new Fiscal Officer as of October 1, 2017.
Mrs. Ryder is already busy at the reins looking at cost cutting measures to implement due to a major budget cut in the library’s funding . “We are working with energy optimizers to make the old building more efficient, thanks to Rick Van Mooy, to change our lighting to LED, which will reduce our energy costs. Those savings will help us be able to update our air conditioning unit, which is being replaced this fall,” she said.
“We’ve also lost a couple of employees lately, she continued, “and have a few new people who will help pick up some of those hours. If anyone is interested in filling out an application, stop by”
Mrs. Ryder also said the library is always open to comments and ideas from the community. “We may have a survey soon, to see what people want from their library”
