ODOT D – 1 Work This Week – April 11

Highway Construction – Week of April 11, 2016

The following is work scheduled to occur in the coming week on state highways within the Ohio Department of Transportation District 1 which includes the counties of Allen, Defiance, Hancock, Hardin, Paulding, Putnam, Van Wert and Wyandot. Allen County

Interstate 75 from the Auglaize County line to Fourth Street, through Lima and Allen County, will have occasional lane closures throughout the year during the final year of the reconstruction of the interstate. Current impacts to traffic are as follows:

  • Traffic on I-75 north and south of the Ohio 65 interchange area continues to travel in a contraflow pattern where two southbound lanes and one northbound lane of traffic are traveling on the southbound side of the interstate, and one northbound lane is traveling on the northbound side of the interstate. Traffic will remain in this pattern until late summer.
  • On Tuesday, April 12, the single, northbound lane through the Ohio 65 interchange area will be closed during pouring of the concrete bridge deck over the railroad just east (north) of Ohio 65.

-The lane closure will require the closure of the exit ramp from northbound Interstate 75 to Ohio 65. Traffic during the ramp closure will be detoured to Fourth Street to I-75 southbound back to Ohio 65.

  • The entrance ramp from Ohio 65 to Interstate 75 northbound remains closed. Traffic is detoured north on Ohio 65 to the Fourth Street interchange back to I-75 northbound. The ramp is expected to reopen by the end of May.

Interstate 75 from Fourth Street to Ohio 81 will be reduced to one lane, both northbound and southbound, one direction at a time, on Wednesday, April 18 and Thursday, April 19 for pavement warranty review. The restriction will begin each day at 8 a.m. and conclude by 2 p.m. Work is being performed by ODOT District 1 construction.

Ohio 117 from Bowman Road to the Auglaize County line will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for pavement repair. Work is being performed by the ODOT Allen County maintenance garage.

Ohio 501 from the Auglaize County line to Ohio 117 will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for pavement repair. Work is being performed by the ODOT Allen County maintenance garage.

Ohio 309 (Elida Road) from Robb Avenue to Cole Street, Lima, is restricted in the westbound direction for reconstruction of the curb and gutter, upgrade of traffic signals and resurfacing of the roadway. The continuous turn from eastbound Ohio 309 to Grand Avenue was permanently closed on March 14. Three lanes of traffic will remain open at all times throughout the duration of the project. Only one lane at a time will be taken out of service. Within the next two weeks, traffic will be restricted in the eastbound direction. The project will be completed in the fall. Work is being performed by Smith Paving, Norwalk.

Defiance County

Ohio 15 (Clinton Street) on the bridge over the Maumee River in the city of Defiance will be restricted on Monday, April 11 and Tuesday April 12, one direction at a time, for inspection of the bridge abutments and soil boring work. The restriction will occur generally between 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Work is being performed by Pro GeoTech, Cleveland.

Hancock County

Interstate 75 between County Road 99 and Ohio 18 will be restricted at times, both northbound and southbound, on Saturday, April 9, generally between the hours of 7 a.m. to noon, for berm repair. Work is being performed by Miller Brothers Construction, Archbold.

Hardin County

Ohio 292 from Ohio 31 to the village of Ridgeway will be reduced to one lane through the work zone for berm work. Work is being performed by the ODOT Hardin County maintenance garage.

Paulding County

U.S. 24 throughout the county will be restricted for pot hole patching. Work is being performed by the ODOT Paulding County maintenance garage.

Ohio 49 north of the village of Payne, between Road 94 and Road 96, closed March 21 for 60 days for a bridge replacement project. Traffic detoured onto Ohio 500 and Ohio 111 back to Ohio 49. Work is being performed by Vernon Nagel, Napoleon.

Putnam County

Ohio 694 between 114 and 115 will be restricted for sealing of pavement cracks. Work is being performed by the Putnam County ODOT maintenance garage.

Van Wert County

U.S. 30, both directions, west of the city of Van Wert will be reduced to one lane through the work zone for sealing of pavement cracks. Work is being performed by the ODOT Van Wert County maintenance garage.

U.S. 127 (Washington Street) between Fox Road and Ervin Road in the city of Van Wert will be closed beginning April 11 for reconstruction and widening of the road. Access to local businesses will be maintained. Traffic will be detoured onto Ohio 81, Ohio 118, Ervin Road/Van Wert-Decatur Road, U.S. 224 and U.S. 30 back to U.S. 127. The closure will remain in place until fall. Work is being performed by Helms & Sons Excavating, Findlay.

Wyandot County

Ohio 103 bridge over U.S. 23/Ohio 15, south of Carey, will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for a bridge rehabilitation project which will begin Monday, April 11. The bridge will close later in the summer for approximately 30 days. Work is being performed by DOT Construction Corp., Canfield.

Ohio 293 bridge just south of Wharton will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for a bridge rehabilitation project which will begin Monday, April 11. The bridge will close later in the summer for approximately 30 days. Work is being performed by DOT Construction Corp., Canfield.

Ohio 53 from U.S. 23 to the Seneca County line, Ohio 67 from Ohio 53 to Township Highway 121, and Ohio 587 from Ohio 53 to the Seneca County line will be reduced to one lane through the work zone for a pavement repair and resurfacing project which will begin on Tuesday, April 12. Pavement repair on all three routes will take place in the coming week. Traffic will be maintained throughout the project. Work is being performed by Kokosing Construction, Columbus.

Ohio 53 north of Upper Sandusky, just south of County Highway 44, will be reduced to one lane through the work zone during a culvert replacement. Work is being performed by the ODOT Wyandot County maintenance garage.
