ODOT District 1 – Construction Update -Oct. 31

The following is the weekly report concerning construction and maintenance work on state highways within the Ohio Department of Transportation District 1 which includes the counties of Allen, Defiance, Hancock, Hardin, Paulding, Putnam, Van Wert and Wyandot. This report is issued each week beginning in April and continues through November.

Construction and Maintenance Projects

Week of November 3, 2014

Allen County

Interstate 75 Reconstruction Project For the most recent information concerning the Interstate 75 reconstruction project through Lima and Allen County please visit www.odotlima75.org

 

U.S. 30/Ohio 309 near Delphos may be restricted to one lane at times through the work zone for culvert work. Work is expected to be completed in the fall. Work is being performed by Platinum Painting, Boardman.

Defiance County

 

U.S. 24 eastbound from west of Glenburg Road until west of Ohio 66 will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for bridge deck cleaning on November 3 and 4, weather permitting. Work will be performed by the Defiance County ODOT maintenance garage.

 

Ohio 281 north of Ohio 18 will be restricted through the work zone for bridge deck cleaning on November 5, weather permitting. Traffic will be maintained with flaggers. Work is being performed by the Defiance County ODOT maintenance garage.

 

Ohio 18 closure in the village of Hicksville between Elm Street and Meuse Argonne Street for a waterline repair has been delayed.

 

Hancock County

 

U.S. 224 interchange at Interstate 75 reconstruction, Findlay

 

The U.S. 224 interchange with Interstate 75, Findlay, is currently being reconstructed. The project began in February and is expected to be completed late this fall. Work is being performed by Miller Brothers Construction, Archbold.

 

The following traffic impacts related to the reconstruction are in effect or will occur in the upcoming weeks:

 

Interstate 75

 

Both the northbound and southbound lanes are currently narrowed and shifted approaching the U.S. 224 interchange.

 

-Lane restrictions will continue both northbound and southbound for overhead work at the bridge. Restrictions will occur between 9 p.m. and 10 a.m.

 

U.S. 224

 

-In the beginning of the week, traffic on U.S. 224 between County Road 300 and Broad Avenue will be one lane in each direction during daytime hours and will be traveling in the curb lanes to allow for paving of the final asphalt surface and for application of pavement markings. By the end of the week, all lanes of U.S. 224 are expected to be open.

 

-Some business drives on U.S. 224 will be closed at times for reconstruction and during paving operations. Alternate access to all businesses will be maintained.

 

-During the week of November 3, the final surface course of asphalt will be paved on all four ramps of the interchange, beginning at approximately 8 a.m. and continuing until approximately 8 p.m. each day. Traffic will be maintained on the ramps for the majority of the time. Short-term closures of the ramps of up to two hours will be necessary, but only one ramp at a time will be closed. Law enforcement will be stationed at the ramps to control traffic.

 

-By the end of the week, all lanes on the U.S. 224 bridge over Interstate 75 are expected to be open and all lanes on U.S. 224 between County Road 300 and Broad Avenue are expected to be open as well.

 

-Also by the end of the week, all pavement striping is expected to be completed and all permanent signals at the ramps activated.

 

-All ramps at the interchange are open.

 

-Motorists are cautioned to watch for construction vehicles entering and exiting at various locations throughout the work zone on U.S. 224 and along the interchange ramps.

Interstate 75 northbound between Ohio 235 and the city of Findlay will be restricted through the work zone from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day during the week for pavement joint repair. Work is being performed by the Hancock County ODOT maintenance garage.

 

Hardin County

 

Ohio 235 in the village of Alger will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for pavement repairs. Work is being performed by the Hardin County ODOT maintenance garage.

 

Ohio 81 from the village of Dunkirk to the village of Ada will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for pavement repairs. Work is being performed by the Hardin County ODOT maintenance garage.

 

Paulding County

 

Ohio 613 from U.S. 127 to Ohio 637 will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for shoulder work. Work is being performed by the Paulding County ODOT maintenance garage.

 

Ohio 49 between Johnson Road and the Defiance County Line will be restricted through the work zone for tile repairs. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. Work is being performed by the Paulding County ODOT maintenance garage.

 

Putnam County

 

Tree cutting will restrict traffic to one lane through the work zone at the following locations. Work is being performed by the Putnam County ODOT maintenance garage:

-Ohio 108 at Township Road C

-U.S. 224 near County Road 5

 

 

Van Wert County

 

U.S. 30 from the village of Middle Point to the city of Van Wert in the eastbound driving lane will be restricted through the work zone for sealing of pavement cracks. Work is being performed by the Van Wert County ODOT maintenance garage.

 

Wyandot County

 

Ohio 103 just east of Township Highway 95 closed on October 30 for two days for a culvert replacement. Traffic detoured onto Ohio 15 and Ohio 37 back to Ohio 103. Work is being performed by the Wyandot County ODOT maintenance garage.

 

Ohio 199 south of Carey between Ohio 103 and Township Highway 28 is restricted through the work zone for finishing work related to the culvert replacement project from earlier in the fall. Work is being performed by Alvada Construction, Alvada.

 

Ohio 53/67 (8th Street/Marseilles Avenue) in the city of Upper Sandusky from High Street to Wyandot Avenue is open and traffic is being maintained through the work zone during water line installation and pavement repair. The project is expected to continue until mid-November. Work is being performed by Park Enterprises, Marion.
