ODOT District Two Winter Weather Update 4pm
BOWLING GREEN (Sunday, January 4, 2015) – The following is an update from the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District Two:
ODOT crews in Northwest Ohio are out along state and federal routes battling freezing rain, snow showers and strong winds. Crews have pretreated bridges and overpasses as well as ramps in some locations. When possible, crews are treating early this afternoon to avoid the roadways freezing prior to temperatures dropping into the teens tonight.
Crews will be in 12 hour shifts overnight tonight. These shifts are likely to continue as winter weather is expected to continue this week.
Winter conditions are likely to impact the roadway tonight and the Monday morning commute.
If you travel ODOT advises the following:
· Clear windows and lights so that you are visible to other drivers.
· Travel at reduced speeds
· Allow extra time to get to your destination
· Don’t crowd the plow
· Be mindful of blowing and drifting, especially in rural areas
