BOWLING GREEN (Monday, October 23, 2017) – The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District Two is now displaying a safety memorial at the ODOT Northwood outpost. On November 1, the display will be moved to display at the ODOT Lucas County garage.
The memorial is to raise awareness of work zone safety for drivers, specifically to represent the 28 people who were killed in Ohio work zone crashes in 2016. 27 of the 28 were motorists.
“The memorial display is very sobering, thinking of those people and their families,” said Patrick McColley, ODOT District Two’s Deputy Director. “Each one of those killed never went home.”
“We want people to feel that emotional impact and understand decisions you make while driving have consequences,” McColley added.
The memorial has traveled to each ODOT District Two county garage this summer and autumn to spread awareness of work zone crashes.
