ODOT Update for District 1 – Oct. 5

ODOT District One Construction and Maintenance Projects Week of October 5, 2015

The following is a weekly report concerning construction and maintenance work on state highways within the Ohio Department of Transportation District 1 which includes the counties of Allen, Defiance, Hancock, Hardin, Paulding, Putnam, Van Wert and Wyandot. This report is issued each week beginning in April and continues through November.

Allen County
Interstate 75 Reconstruction project For the most recent information concerning the Interstate 75 reconstruction project through Lima and Allen County please visit www.odotlima75.org.
Defiance County
Ohio 66 from approximately two miles north of Defiance to north of Kammeyer Road will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for cleaning of drainage structures. Work is being performed by the Defiance County maintenance garage.
Hancock County
U.S. 224 from Trenton Avenue in Findlay to County Road 212 east of Findlay including Main Street will be restricted through the fall for a resurfacing project. Work on Tiffin Avenue at Center Street is nearly complete with some work occurring this weekend which will affect traffic. Work is now occurring on Main Street between Center Street and Trenton Avenue. Lane closures should be expected during both daytime and nighttime hours. Asphalt work is occurring during nighttime hours during the week, generally between 5 p.m. and 5 a.m. During daytime hours work on pavement striping will occur generally between 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Work is being performed by Bluffton Paving, Bluffton.
Interstate 75 northbound and southbound south of Findlay, from three miles south of the rest areas to the Interstate 75/Ohio 15 interchange is restricted to one lane in each direction for a joint repair and resurfacing project. Traffic is currently traveling in the northbound passing lane and in the southbound driving lane. At some point during the week northbound traffic will be switched to the driving lane. Work at the rest area ramps will occur in the coming weeks and may result in short-term access restrictions to the rest areas. Work will continue through late fall. Work is being performed by Shelly Company, Findlay.
Ohio 15 from the Findlay airport to Ohio 37 eastbound and westbound is largely complete with some minor finish work remaining. The route is currently unrestricted but work to complete the project is expected to resume within a few weeks. Work is being performed by the Shelly Company, Findlay.
Interstate 75 in Wood and Hancock counties: Through 2016, southbound I-75 is reduced to two lanes from US 20 to I-475 in Perrysburg. Through November, from 8pm until 6am, single lane restrictions are possible on I-75 between the I-75/I-475 interchange in Perrysburg to CR 99 in Hancock County. Through 2016, 11-foot lane width restrictions are in place on I-75 between US 20 in Perrysburg to CR 99 in Hancock County. Project complete: October 2017. All work is weather permitting.
Special events . . .
 Effective Monday, April 27, through December, Township Road 101 in Hancock County, between CR 220 and TR 142, will be closed for bridge work on I-75.
Hardin County
Ohio 81 just east of Ada at the Grass Creek bridge will be restricted to one lane through the work zone on Monday for pavement repair. Work is being performed by the Hardin County ODOT maintenance garage.
Ohio 235 north of Ada to the Hancock County line will be reduced to one lane through the work zone on Monday and Tuesday of the week for pavement repair. Work is being performed by the Hardin County ODOT maintenance garage.
Ohio 309 at Ohio 235 south of Ada will be reduced to one lane through the work zone on Wednesday for pavement repair. Work is being performed by the Hardin County ODOT maintenance garage.
Ohio 235 between Ohio 309 and the south corporation of Alger will be reduced to one lane through the work zone for pavement repair on Thursday and Friday. Work is being performed by the Hardin County ODOT maintenance garage.
Ohio 31 south of Ohio 292 between County Road 190 and County Road 200 closed September 14 for a culvert replacement. Due to a delay in material delivery, the project will continue through late October. Traffic is detoured onto Ohio 292 and Ohio 47 back to Ohio 31. Work is being performed by Vernon Nagel, Inc., Napoleon.
Ohio 81 between County Road 159 east of Dunkirk and Township Road 165 is now open.
Paulding County
Ohio 500 from Ohio 49 in Payne to the Indiana state line is undergoing pavement repair. The project will close the road according to the following schedule. Work is being performed by Gerken Paving, Napoleon:
 Ohio 500 between Ohio 49 and County Road 21 closed September 30 for approximately one month. Access to residents is available from Township Road 39, Township Road 33 and Township Road 21. All other traffic is detoured onto County Road 1, Ohio 613 and Ohio 49 back to Ohio 500.
 In late October, the section of Ohio 500 between Township Road 21 and County Road 1 (Indiana state line) will be closed for approximately one month. Access to residents will be available from Township Road 21, County Road 11 and County Road 1. All other traffic will be detoured onto County Road 1, Ohio 613 and Ohio 49 back to Ohio 500.
 ODOT is coordinating with local landowners regarding access to residents and farm fields during the project.
Ohio 613 in Melrose is now open following a culvert replacement.
Ohio 66 north of Oakwood will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for sealing of pavement cracks. Work is being performed by the Paulding County ODOT maintenance garage.
U.S. 24 at U.S. 127 may be restricted through the work zone at times during slope repair. Work is being performed by the Paulding County ODOT maintenance garage.
U.S. 127 between Garfield Avenue and Jackson Street in the village of Paulding closed April 13 for approximately eight months for a sewer separation project. Traffic is detoured onto Ohio 111, Ohio 637 and Ohio 114 back onto U.S. 127. Work is being performed by VTF Excavation, Celina.
Putnam County
Ohio 12 at the west edge of Columbus Grove will be closed October 7 for approximately five weeks for installation of sanitary sewer. Traffic detoured onto Ohio 65, U.S. 30 and Ohio 115 back to Ohio 12. Work is being performed by Underground Utilities, Inc.
Ohio 613 east of West Leipsic will be closed October 13 for approximately four days for culvert replacement at two locations. Traffic detoured onto Ohio 65, U.S. 224 and Ohio 235 back to Ohio 613. Work is being performed by the Putnam County ODOT maintenance garage.
Ohio 189 at the east edge of Ottoville closed May 27 for an unplanned culvert repair. The road is closed for an indefinite amount of time. Traffic is being detoured onto Ohio 190, Ohio 634 and U.S. 224 back to Ohio 189.
Van Wert County
U.S. 30 eastbound from the Indiana state line to U.S. 224 will be reduced to one lane through the work zone for patching of pavement. Work is being performed by the Van Wert County ODOT maintenance garage.
U.S. 224 near Slane Road one mile west of Ohio 637 will be reduced to one lane through the work zone for ditch cleaning. Work is being performed by the Van Wert County ODOT maintenance garage.
U.S. 30 eastbound and westbound between Boroff Road and John Brown Road at Van Wert will be restricted to one lane through the work zone on Tuesday of the week for placement of speed control pavement markings. Work is being performed by the ODOT District 1 traffic department.
Wyandot County
Berm work will take place at the following locations with traffic maintained through the work zone. Work is being performed by the Wyandot County ODOT maintenance garage:
-Ohio 53 north of Upper Sandusky
-Ohio 103 between SR53 and Sycamore
U.S. 23/30 northbound and southbound at Upper Sandusky is currently restricted during a bridge, pavement repair and resurfacing project. Traffic will be affected during the week as follows:
 U.S. 23/U.S. 30 is restricted to one lane at the Ohio 53/Ohio 67 overhead bridge during repair of the bridge.
 Traffic on the bridge on Ohio 53/Ohio 67 will be restricted but maintained with a temporary signal during the work.
 U.S.23 both northbound and southbound from south of Ohio 182 to just south of County Road 47 is restricted to one lane throughout the entire length of the project area until early October. The work zone will continue to decrease throughout the month as finish work continues. Work is being performed by Kokosing Construction, Columbus.
