Photo Gallery: Opioid Awareness Event Held in NB

by Sue Miklovic

Recently, a public awareness and information event was held at the North Baltimore Public Library.

Wood County Commissioner Dr. Ted Bowlus began the program explaining the science behind addiction
Wood County Prosecuting Attorney Paul Dobson tries to help those in need find the services they need to free themselves from addiction
NB EMS Chief Phil Walter, also a village resident, has responded to more than his share of overdoses
North Baltimore resident, and Emergency Room Nurse at Wood County Hospital nurse Tracy Cotterman shared the personal pain of having people you know and who live in your community become the next overdose statistic/patient you care for in the Emergency Room….
Wood County JFS Director Dave Wigent talks about the strain on the Children Services system as children are left without a parent or a foster family to care for them.
Belinda Rhoads shares what it takes to help people begin the journey down the Road to Recovery.

I have to admit I was very disappointed in the turnout from the community for this program. This group of professionals gave a great presentation with a lot of information to help understand how this drug “problem” has become an epidemic. It is so hard to see the devastation that has occurred in so many families even in our little village. It is scary and heartbreaking at the same time. I urge you to take time to educate yourself if you see another opportunity to attend such a forum.

Thank you to all who presented, and were responsible for bringing this worthwhile program to the North Baltimore Public Library.
