Powell Elementary School celebrated Veteran’s Day on Friday, November 11, 2016. Students in many classes prepared posters, cards, and thank you letters to share with veterans from the community.
Veterans were invited to come to school and enjoy lunch with their special student. Students and staff wore red, white and blue for the day. Fifty veterans came and shared this special time. Dads, grandpas, and other friends and relatives joined the staff and students. The Brotherhood of Honorable Men members greeted and escorted the visitors to the cafeteria.

Powell Preschool also welcomed special veterans to the classroom. The students made red, white, and blue necklaces, sang some songs, and enjoyed special cookies with several veterans. It was an opportunity for our younger students to thank our veterans for the freedoms we enjoy.
