On Monday, March 21st, 2016, from 6:30 to 8:00pm, the North Baltimore Powell Elementary Fine Arts Department will present a “Make it, Take it” night, at the school located on North Main Street. This interactive arts open-house will allow parents to participate in several choice-based studios that their children experience on a regular basis.
Events in the gymnasium will include: Drawing Studio, Sculpture Studio, Roll-a-Picture Studio, Rhythm Studio, Boomwhacker Composition Studio, DIY Instrument Studio, and a collaborative sculpture.
Ms. Meyerson, NB Local Schools Choral Director, will be leading guided bucket drumming sessions in the band room, and Ms. Miklovic, Elementary Art Instructor, will be leading guided blind contour line drawings in the art room.
The music room will hold an instrument petting zoo, for students in grades preschool through two, and the Fine Arts hallway will have a collaborative wall weaving.
Students and parents can come to this event any time between 6:30 and 8:00 pm. Visitors will check in at the registration table where they will receive a “museum map” and have the opportunity to sign up for guided sessions. From there, students and parents can visit open studios at will, to gather materials and ideas and have their maps stamped before finding a work space. Materials will be provided, and anything made is yours to take home!
This is a great opportunity to come and be creative with fun for the whole family, while also getting a first-hand experience of what our Powell boys and girls do every day in art and music.
