Students at Powell Elementary with the help of their Physical Education Instructor, Mr. Zach Walls, found a way to help the American Heart Association this February. It is Heart Month.
This year our students in Kindergarten through Grade 3 participated in a Jump Rope for Heart program.
The students in Grades 4-6 did a Hoops for Heart program.
February 5th and 6th were the activity days. Students jumped, or played 3 on 3 basketball games to complete the activity.
Student got sponsors and then collected the donations for their participation in the program. Mr. Walls set a goal of $200 as the donation from our Powell Students. He is pleased to announce that $989 was raised for this first year event. He hopes to make this an annual event for the Powell Students. Students will receive prizes according to how much they raised.
