Continuum of Care Wood County is hosting their 4rd annual Project Connect Wood County (PC). PC is a one day, one stop event designed to provide a broad range of free services to individuals and families at risk of homelessness or are experiencing poverty. This event will be held on October 19, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 315 S. College Ave., Bowling Green.
In 2015, 312 households, (representing 782 individuals) attended PC with many being families with children. Among the services offered by over 50 providers will be hot meals, haircuts; dental, medical and mental health care; substance abuse; IDs, employment assistance, housing, and so many more!
300 volunteers will be needed for a successful PCWC2016. Go to http://tinyurl.com/PCWC16vol to register as a volunteer to be a host who guides guests through the event. All volunteers are required to attend a brief orientation which has proven to be beneficial to past host volunteers. Dates and times for orientations are included in the online portal noted above.
Another need is clothing and personal care products for all ages: new or gently used winter coats, boots, hats, mittens and scarves; shampoo, deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, razors, combs, hairbrushes, feminine products. Crafters are invited to knit or crochet hats, mittens and scarves for all ages. These items may be dropped of at The Fringe Thrift Store, near Dunham’s in Woodland mall. Thrift Store hours are Tue.-Sat. 10 am-7pm.
