“PUTTS FUR MUTTS” GOLF OUTING AND PUTT PUTT EVENT

“PUTTS FUR MUTTS” GOLF OUTING AND PUTT PUTT EVENT SCHEDULED FOR JULY 11th
Proceeds will benefit Maumee Valley Save-A-Pet
On Saturday, July 11, area golfers will hit the course at Bedford Hills Golf Club to spend the day enjoying one of their favorite hobbies and participating in a friendly competition.  This morning, however, will have much more significance than a typical day on the greens because these golfers will be participating in the “Putts Fur Mutts” Golf Outing and Putt Putt Event to benefit Maumee Valley Save-A-Pet (MVSAP).

Event Co-Chair Jill Borkowski says “As a volunteer with Maumee Valley Save-A-Pet, I see firsthand the impact that this non-profit organization has on animals throughout Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan – like a dog named Haze who was transferred to Maumee Valley Save-A-Pet from the Wood County Dog Shelter and a cat named Aiah who was found outside of a hotel on Wooster Street and came to Maumee Valley Save-A-Pet this past winter.”  (Note:  Aiah means “falcon” since she was found in Bowling Green!)

Borkowski goes on to say that “Haze and Aiah – and my four adopted pets – are the reason I am co-hosting this event.  My husband and I wanted to honor our beloved dog Bailey who passed away last November by doing something special to help homeless animals in our community.”

The “Putts Fur Mutts” event will include 18 holes of golf with cart and range balls or 18 or 36 holes of Putt Putt, prizes for the top three golf teams, a goodie bag, donuts, bagels and coffee, a dessert bar, Marshmallow Putting and other contests, a 50/50 raffle, and more!  The cost for golf is $300/team or $75/individual by 6/1/15; $85 thereafter (teams and individuals welcome for golf).  The cost for Putt Putt is $25/person (children welcome).  Golf will be shotgun start at 8 am with Putt Putt starting at 10 am.  Golfers and Putt Putt players will meet-up for lunch donated by Outback Steakhouse Maumee and a silent auction.

Some of the auction items will include:
  • A “trip to Orlando” including four nights at the Residence Inn Orlando at SeaWorld, passes to SeaWorld Orlando and Aquatica Orlando, Walt Disney World Park Hopper passes and golf at Falcon’s Fire Golf Club
  • The chance to watch batting practice on the field prior to a Cleveland Indians home game
  • A one night stay and golf at Maumee Bay State Park
  • Autographed sports memorabilia and sports tickets (University of Toledo football tickets, Cincinnati Reds tickets, Baltimore Orioles tickets)
  • A VIP evening for 10 people at the lululemon athletica Toledo showroom!  The store will work with the winning bidder to tailor an evening full of surprise and delight!  Example evenings include snacks and shopping, vision and goal session, cross train and craft beers or private yoga in the showroom.
  • Washington Nationals tickets and a two night stay at the Hotel Monaco in Old Town Alexandria (Virginia)
To register or inquire about hole sponsorships, please contact Melissa Cogar at 419-245-4712 or cogar_2008@yahoo.com.  The registration form, a full list of auction items and regular updates are available at www.facebook.com/puttsfurmutts.

The net proceeds from the “Putts Fur Mutts” event will be donated to Maumee Valley Save-A-Pet in Toledo, Ohio.  The non-profit organization (founded in 1978) provides shelter, spay/neuter services and veterinary care to dogs and cats throughout Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan while they await adoption in a free-roaming shelter environment with an outdoor cattery and fenced dog yard.  The group also helps pet parents and people caring for community cats with spay/neuter and veterinary care through a spay/neuter fund and a Vet-A-Pet fund.
