Raymond D. Fisher, 96, of North Baltimore, died at 5:45 p.m., Monday, December 28, 2015, at the Heritage Corner Health Care Campus, Bowling Green.
He was born on October 28, 1919, in Tontogany, OH to the late Samuel D. and Winifred (Walsworth) Fisher. He married Lucille M. Fillwock on March 27, 1954, in Angola, IN and she preceded him in death on November 1, 2000.
Raymond retired from Columbia Gas as an Area Manager in North Baltimore and then in Tiffin, and was a member of their Quarter Century Club.
He was a U.S. Army Air Force Veteran having served our country in World War II, where he was the recipient of 2 Bronze Stars and Prisoner of War Medal.
He was a member of St. James United Methodist Church, North Baltimore. Raymond was also a life member of the North Baltimore American Legion Post 539, and a Life Member of D.A.V. #34 in Tiffin. He was a past member and president of the North Baltimore Rotary Club and North Baltimore Chamber of Commerce. He was a former member of the Tiffin Rotary Club and Tiffin Chamber of Commerce.
Raymond is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his brothers: Lawrence and Clarence Fisher.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 31, 2015, at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, North Baltimore, with Reverend Rick Adams officiating.
Burial will be in New Maplewood Cemetery, North Baltimore, where full military rites will be conducted by the North Baltimore American Legion Post 539. Visitation will be held 1 hour (10-11 a.m.) prior to the service Thursday at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME.
