Rep. Brown Congratulates the City of Rossford for Earning Safety Capital Grant

COLUMBUS—State Representative Tim W. Brown today congratulated the City of Rossford for being named a recipient of the Local Government Safety Capital Grant funds.

Initiated by the Ohio House of Representatives and included in the state operating budget for fiscal years 2016 and 2017, these grants can be used to help fund public safety projects in local communities throughout Ohio.

Local governments could apply for the grants for eligible projects, but the funding must be used for purchasing vehicles, equipment, facilities and/or systems utilized by police, fire, and/or EMS providers to enhance public safety.

“I am very happy that the Legislature has found an additional way to be of service to our local communities. Our emergency responders are on the front lines of providing public safety and these dollars will benefit all of our local citizens.” Representative Brown said.

The grant will update the outdated Rossford Police Shooting Range and allow the range to have current target equipment. Targets that move laterally and turn offer intense combat and tactical training and increase an officer’s ability to think critically. Additionally, this funding provides a ‘rubber’ backstop to prevent officer injury due to the ricochet of bullets.

The Local Government Innovation Council administers the program.
