Rev. Paul H. Eichar, 79, NB

Rev. Paul H. Eichar, 79, of North Baltimore passed away at 8:50 a.m. on Sunday, November 23, 2014 at the Wood County Hospital, Bowling Green.

He was born on September 17, 1935, in Wilschire, OH, to the late David and Delight (Bragg) Eichar. He married Joyce J. Gineman on November 24, 1957, and she survives.

Rev. Eichar is also survived by his daughters: Miriam (Hank) Flores of North Baltimore, Betty (Jim) Zeigler of North Baltimore, and Denise (Kim) Flis of Moore, OK; his son, Jon (Rose) Eichar of North Baltimore; his grandchildren: Ray (Amanda), Ashley, Rachel, Nathan, Jessica, James, John, Kelly (Bryce), Daniel, Josh and Jordan; his great-grandchildren: Adam, Jayme, Anthony, Madilynn and Graeme.

He was preceded in death by his brother, David Eichar; and his sister, Esther Mohr.

Rev. Eichar faithfully served five different churches during his 42 years of ministry, Bairdstown United Methodist Church (2 years), York Center United Methodist Church (5 years), Bascom United Methodist Church (11 years), where he was also a member of the Bascom Volunteer Fire Department, North Baltimore Church of the Good Shepherd United Methodist (13 years) and St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Fairfield, OH (11 years), where he received a key to the city upon his retirement. He was extremely committed to every church and community in which he and Joyce served.

Rev. Eichar was instrumental in starting the Blakely Nursing Home Church Service, the North Baltimore Food Pantry, the North Baltimore Farmer’s Market, the North Baltimore Good Ole Summertime Festival and served on the North Baltimore Park Board. He was a member of the Lions Club, the North Baltimore Chamber of Commerce and the morning coffee group which gathered at the former Lloyd’s Restaurant. He also had a true passion for making apple butter.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 29, 2014, at the Church of the Good Shepherd United Methodist, North Baltimore, with Reverend Susan Kronbach officiating. Burial will be in New Maplewood Cemetery, North Baltimore.

Visitation will be held from 1:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, November 28, 2014, at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, North Baltimore.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church and/or North Baltimore Food Pantry and/or American Cancer Society and/or the Lions Club. Online condolences may be made at www.coldrencrates.com.
