Ride Against Blood Cancers is an annual poker run event to raise money for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society’s Northern Ohio
Chapter and for any individuals and their families in need that are affected by a blood cancer diagnosis.
The mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their
families.
LLS holds a special place in my heart. I am a survivor of Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. While I was receiving treatment, I was blessed to have been given assistance from The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Northern Ohio Chapter. Because of their generosity, I wanted to “pay it forward”. My decision to start Ride Against Blood Cancers came from my love to ride & my desire to help cancer patients. LLS did so much for me, and they continue to provide hope and support for many others on a daily basis. The annual poker run, Ride Against Blood Cancers was founded in order for raising money to donate to LLS & others to help ease the burden on those that are
fighting this horrible disease. Since its inception four years ago Ride Against Blood Cancers has always been about giving back to the cancer community. Since 2010 we have been able to donate funds to help cancer patients that are struggling financially.
Ride Against Blood Cancers will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2015. Registration begins at 10:00 a.m. at the Columbia Station VFW Post 9340, 25742 Royalton Road (Rt 82) Columbia Station, OH 44028. Destinations on the run include: Scoundrel’s, Chestnut Tavern, Wiley’s Lounge, Duke’s Dawghouse, and Friendly Inn. All bikes, trucks, cars, and vehicles are welcome.
Ride Against Blood Cancers goal is to promote awareness about blood cancers and to raise monies to help patients and families that have been affected by a blood cancer. All funds raised will be used in many different ways. LLS has funded research that has led to key advances in understanding blood cancers and the lifesaving drugs to fight them. LLS also provides a range of free services, such as family support groups, an extensive educational web site, seminars and conferences, direct patient financial aid and co-pay assistance. RABC also helps patients and their families directly with financial support for utility bills, unexpected expenses, or anything
needed during a patients treatment period.
