Robert Hesse, 73, of Oak Harbor and formerly of Findlay, passed away at 11:53 a.m., Sunday, July 30, 2017, at the Toledo Hospital.
He was born on February 16, 1944, in Findlay to Richard and Monetta (Jones) Hesse. He married Barb McCartney on February 19, 1962, and she survives. Bob is also survived by his mother, Monetta Hesse of North Baltimore; his son, Robert “Bob” (Joetta) Hesse of Punta Gorda, FL; his brother, Gary (Cindy) Hesse of Oak Harbor. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Hesse.
Bob retired in 2007 as the Editor of The Courier. He was also a retired Lake Erie Charter Captain. He was a member of the North Baltimore American Legion Post 539, Findlay Rotary Club, Ohio Newspaper Association.
Bob was an avid hunter and fisherman, who looked forward to his Pheasant Hunting trip to Montana every year.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 3, 2017, at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, North Baltimore, with Pastor Ralph Mineo officiating. Burial will be in New Maplewood Cemetery, North Baltimore.
Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
