Robert L. Hopple, Sr., 85, of North Baltimore passed away at his residence on Sunday afternoon April 2, 2017. He was born on August 30, 1931, in Mermill, Ohio to the late Cloyd and Helen (Chamberlain) Hopple.
He married Margaret Ann Walter on July 12, 1954, and she preceded him in death on February 25, 2009.
Bob is survived by his son, Robert L. (Kim) Hopple, Jr. of North Baltimore; his daughter, LeAnn Saltz of Findlay; his brother, Charles (Jean) Hopple of Jerry City; his grandchildren: Kasandra, Brittany and Rylie; his great-grandchildren: Kailey, Makenzie, Thomas “Bouncer” and Vyvian; his beloved cat, Kitty.
He was preceded in death by his brothers: Cloyd “Al”, James and Jack Hopple; his sister, Laura Marie Smith.
Bob initially worked at Daybrooks in Bowling Green for 26 years, and later for Clarke American from which he retired in 1996. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served our country from 1952-1954 in the Korean War, and was a member of the North Baltimore American Legion Post 539.
Bob enjoyed walking throughout the town of North Baltimore, “old” country music, watching baseball and tinkering in his shed. His greatest joy in life was his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 7, 2017 at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, North Baltimore. Burial will be in Wood County Memory Gardens, where full military rites will be conducted by the North Baltimore American Legion Post 539.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME.
