Ronald Dale Gillen, 81, of North Baltimore, died at 7:20 a.m., Tuesday, September 15, 2015, at the Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay. He was born on December 26, 1933, to the late George and Edith (Benjamin) Gillen.
He married Julia Bomia and they were divorced. Ron is survived by his son, Rodney (DeAnn) Gillen of North Baltimore; his daughters: Jean (Dan) Smith of Findlay, JoLynn (Jim) August of North Baltimore and Ann Gillen Hutson Whitman of Arlington; his sisters: Beverly Young of Findlay, Jerrie Wright of North Baltimore and Juanita (Bill) Smith of Findlay; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 1
great-great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, B.J. Gillen; and a sister, Evelyn Phillips.
Ron was a 1951, graduate of North Baltimore High School and was a former Blacksmith and Bull Rider. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeye and Cleveland Browns fan, who enjoyed harness racing, hunting, fishing and flea marketing, but his greatest love in life was his grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, September 17, 2015, at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, North Baltimore, where visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., prior to the service at the funeral home, Rev. Susan Kronbach officiating. Burial will be in New Maplewood Cemetery, North Baltimore.
The family would ask that anyone attending services for Ron please wear Buckeyes, Browns or Camouflage clothing.
