Linda Ross, President of the GFWC Ohio Federation of Women’s Clubs, announced that Sharon Franklin was selected to represent the State of Ohio at the 2015 GFWC Annual International Convention in Memphis, TN held June 11-17, 2015. Sharon recently returned from the Leadership Education and Development Seminar (LEADS) program where she was awarded a Certificate of Completion for the leadership training. It was presented to her by the General Federation of Women’s Club International President, Babs J. Condon.
The former Sharon Hennings is a life-long Wood County resident and a graduate of North Baltimore High School, class of 1965. She has been an active member of the GFWC Women’s Club of Bowling Green since 1996. She has served as a past President, participates on the Board of Directors, Long Range Planning and Membership Committees, as well as serving as the OFWC Northwest District Membership Chair.
After retiring from the Office of Design and Construction at Bowling Green State University, she became a licensed life and health insurance agent in both Ohio and Nevada. Sharon is currently an independent contract agent with United Healthcare Medicare Solutions. She is available to speak to groups or individuals who may have general questions about Medicare Supplements or Prescription Drug Plans.
The GFWC Women’s Club of Bowling Green supports numerous projects and organizations including the Cocoon Shelter; BG Christian Food Pantry; provide scholarships; the Annual Creative Writing Contest for students in grades 1 through 12; Canine Companions Assistance Dogs; and support Heifer International.
