St. Luke’s and St. John’s Lutheran Churches – Easter Services

St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, North Baltimore

St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in North Baltimore will commemorate the Last Supper on Maundy Thursday, April 13, at 7:30 p.m. Pastor Ralph Mineo’s sermon will be: “The Season of Love.” Following Holy Communion, the Altar Guild will conduct the traditional stripping of the Altar, a symbolic ritual of the humility Christ endured. Worship concludes with the Traditional “Order of the Tenebrae,” a symbolic darkening of the worship space to prepare for the crucifixion.

The congregation’s Good Friday Worship will be at noon on April 14. The service will include meditative Taize music, scripture, prayer, and a sermon: “The Season of Death.” Community members are invited to this service, which will be less than an hour, for those who can take a lunch break.

St. John’s Lutheran Church, McComb

St. John’s Lutheran Church in McComb will commemorate the Last Supper on Maundy Thursday, April 13 at 5:00 p.m. Pastor Ralph Mineo’s sermon will be: “The Season of Love.” The Altar Guild will conduct the traditional stripping of the Altar during worship at the conclusion of worship, symbolic of the humility Christ endured.

The congregation will also join the “McComb Area Community of Churches” for Good Friday Worship, April 14, at 7:00 p.m. at the McComb Church of Christ. Pastors and members of the McComb congregations will participate in leading the worship. Pastor Mineo will sing an original anthem: “Weep Not For Me.”
