The 5th Annual Cabin Fever Reliever Winter Hike at Van Buren State Park is to take place on Saturday February 14th. The hike is self guided, with continuous starts from 10-11am. Hikers typically follow one of two marked routes. One route, the “Tenderfoot Route,” is about 2 miles long, with fairly even terrain and views of Van Buren Lake. The other route is the “Frostbite Frolic Route.” This 3.5 mile route is for more experienced hikers, and offers rolling terrain and ravines, with views of Rocky Ford Creek. Following the hike,participants can warm up with a bowl of chili stewed in a pot over an open fire.
Participants should meet at shelterhouse #3, which is located on Township Road 229. Refreshments will be served until 1:00pm or until they are gone!
