It was wet. April 28th-April 30th brought nearly sixty boys, dads, and moms to Camp Berry in Findlay as part of the annual spring camp out for Cub Scout Pack #372. Sleeping bags, cots, flashlights, and marshmallow roasting sticks made their appearance as well.
With nearly constant rain, the boys still enjoyed themselves, exploring the site with ponchos attached. The fire was warm in the lodge and the meals were great as well. There was a pizza night, walking tacos, shredded chicken sandwiches, and of course, some marshmallow roasting and smores. Some of the boys had never experienced “camp pies” with the white bread surrounding delicious apple filling over a fire. We made sure this activity was completed.
Scouts even got in some fishing, with a few blue gills experiencing a catch and release.
We had a movie night, learning all about those “Secret Lives of Pets.”
The fire warmed wet clothes and dried soggy shoes. Lots of sleep the following day and rave reviews from the scouts.
Thanks to all of the parents that supervised and helped out that weekend.
What is next for our scouts? A summer of pools, parades, and maybe a service project or two. If you are interested in having your child join scouts, please contact Cub master, Eric Trout at email@example.com.
