The North Baltimore High School Boys Basketball team hoped to finish the regular season in a more positive way at Van Buren, but foul trouble and a key Tiger injury made it impossible for NB to keep up with the Black Knights.
With the Tigers leading scorers for the season, seniors Chad Wright (12 points, 5 rebounds) and Sean Watson (12 points), on the bench much of the game with foul trouble, sophomores Julian Hagemyer (20 points) and Chase Naugle (12 points) tried to keep the Tigers in the game. NB found themselves behind 44 – 33 at the half.
In the third quarter, junior point guard Noah Brian went out of the game, after taking a shot to the nose and did not return to play. The foul trouble continued and Van Buren’s seniors led the Black Knights to a fine BVC win, 80 – 57.
Noah Cotterman added one point for the Tigers. No other stats were provided.
Van Buren (15-5, 9-3 BVC ) was led by Brandon Fasone who scored 37 points.
North Baltimore finishes the regular season 13-9, 6-6 BVC.
Van Buren won the JV game 35 – 28.
The Tigers will be playing in the Liberty-Benton District, at Riverdale, for the Sectional games. NB was seeded #4, taking a bye into the 2nd round, they will play the winner of Tiffin Calvert and Arcadia on Feb. 26, in the 8 pm game (at Riverdale)
