Everyone knows that it is very important to have gifts to open on Christmas. The staff members at Powell Elementary care about their students and want to make sure that every child has a special Christmas morning.
In order to see that this happens the staff paid to “dress down” on Fridays since last January. They also participated in a raffle for a gift card to Olive Garden and some staff made special donations. These donations to the Tiger Cub Holiday fund were very successful this year.
The total collected was over $1400! This money was divided up among students whose parents submitted a confidential needs application with Mr. Lockwood, Powell Principal. The anonymous applications were then given to Santa Helpers who went shopping in force! Wrapped presents were then brought back to school by the shoppers and will be delivered to parents in time for Christmas.
This fund also purchases coats and boots when there is a need. The staff members will continue to “dress down” for a donation for next year. If community members are interested in donating to this fund they can either come to the school office or call Mr. Lockwood at 419-257-2124.
