Tiger Football Battles Hopewell-Loudon

The North Baltimore Tiger Football squad hosted Blanchard Valley Conference and Valley Division Leader, Hopewell-Loudon, for Senior Night, at Memorial Field, Friday night. The Tigers came out and played a fine 1st half taking a 21 – 14 after two quarters, but…

Sometimes there has to be a but… This week, injuries would take their toll on the Tigers, in this hard hitting game. The Chieftains showed why they have built a 6 – 3 overall and 3 – 1 divisional record, knocking several Tigers out of the game with injuries, and taking the game by a final score of 48 – 27.

NB scored first with Sean Watson running in from 7 yards away (Brian kick good) for a 7 – 0 lead, less than two minutes into the game. Hopewell would come back and score on their first drive, hitting on a 30 yard pass play, tying the game at seven each.

Later in the first quarter, NB’s running back Taylor Bishop would break free for a 49 yard TD run (kick good) to again take the lead. NB added to the lead with a 30 yard TD strike to David Patterson (kick good), up 21 – 7. The Chieftains would cut the lead to 21 – 14 by scoring with just 1:24 to go in the half.

It was all Hopewell in the 3rd quarter,¬†as the ¬†visitors went on the warpath, shutting down NB, to take a 41 – 21 lead into the final quarter. NB’s final scoring play was a Rader to Watson 37 yard TD pass.

Taylor Bishop was the rushing workhorse with 25 carries for 147 and one score. Rader completed 11 of 20 passes for 180 yards and 2 scores, but threw three interceptions. Watson had five catches for 105 yards and a score. David Patterson snagged four passes for 60 yards and one TD.

H – L amassed 578 total yards, 214 through the air (11 of 18) and 364 yards, running the ball.

NB falls to 4 – 5 overall and 0 – 4 in the Valley Division of the BVC. NB finishes the season off next week traveling to Vanlue for a 7:00 kick-off, with this 0 – 9 division opponent.
