Tiger Football ends season with ‘W’

North Baltimore High School Football (5 – 5) “enjoyed” the cold, wet and windy Senior Night and NB’s Memorial Stadium, putting it to the 1 – 9 Wildcats 54 – 20. The Class of 2015 honored their final “Friday Night Lights”, with all Fall Activity Seniors walking the field with their “parent(s)”.

The Tigers did not come out sharp on this nasty night, that was threatening snow, as Vanlue got on the scoreboard first, with a quick score on their opening possession, due to some terrible tackling by several Tigers on a 50 yard gain to the 8 yard line. 4 plays later the Cats were on the board, but did not get the 2 point conversion.

NB’s first possession had Lane Bishop workeding the Tigers down the field, with several QB option runs. However, a couple of dropped passes and a holding penalty tried to kill the drive, until a Bishop pass of 46 yards to Levi Newcomer, led to an 18 yard TD scamper by Bishop, to tie the game at six each (Brian missed the extra point try).

Vanlue was putting together a strong drive on their second possession, but some good ‘D’ and a couple of penalties, stopped Vanlue at the 30 and NB took over on downs. The Tigers wasted no time in flexing their offensive muscle, as Bishop ran for 12 yards, completed a 38 yard bomb to Levi Newcomer and and then hit Jacob Pelton for a 20 yard TD pass. Brian kicked the point for a 13 – 6 NB lead.

Vanlue, not wanting to lose what little momentum they had, put together a strong drive, culminating with a 46 yard TD run, but they could not score on the 2 pointer, so still trailed NB 13 – 12, early in the 2nd quarter.

With the wind at the Tiger’s back for the 2nd quarter, Bishop wasted no time in airing out the long ball with a 67 yard TD strike to Noah Brian, who tacked on the extra point kick and giving the lead they would never relinquish. Bishop scored on a 3 yard run before the end of the first half, giving NB a 26 – 12 lead at intermission. NB would score on all of their possessions in the 2nd half.

Lane Bishop topped off a fine senior season, statistically, gaining 235 yards on 15 carries and 4 TD’s, along with 9 pass completions of 17 attempts, for 294 yards and 3 more scores.

Taylor Bishop carried the ball one time for 36 yards and a TD; Jacob Dick ran 5 times for 23 yards and had one catch for 11 yards; Christian Richmond had one catch for 40 yards; Jacob Pelton the TD catch of 20 yards; Levi Newcomer caught 4 passes for 148 yards (1 – TD) and Noah Brian caught 2 for 75 yards (1 – TD). NB ran a total of 30 offensive plays.

For Vanlue Summers ran the ball 47 times for 285 yards and 2 TD’s. Vanlue ran for a total of 378 yards (64 plays). They completed one of four passes for one yard.

NB ends the 2014 season 5 – 5 and 1 – 4 in the Valley Division of the Blanchard Valley Conference.
