Tim Brown Announces Candidacy for Ohio House

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio—State Representative Tim Brown has announced his candidacy to serve as representative of the 3rd Ohio House District—which includes all of Wood County—during the 132nd General Assembly.

‘Serving the citizens of Wood County is a tremendous honor.  It would be a privilege to continue to serve at our Statehouse in Columbus as State Representative,’   said Rep. Brown.

Representative Brown is serving as the Chairman of two Committees, the House Government Accountability and Oversight Committee, and the Sunset Review Committee.  Additionally Representative Brown serves on the Financial Institutions, Housing and Urban Development Committee, and the Health and Aging Committee.  While serving in the House, Rep. Brown has supported efforts to improve Ohio’s job climate, assist small businesses, and put Ohioans back to work.  ‘I am proud that all of the bills I have passed received broad bi-partisan support,’ said Rep. Brown.

‘Turning around our economy, and getting our citizens back to work remains a priority,’ said Rep. Brown.  The Legislature passed a permanent income tax cut for every Ohioan; it reduced taxes on main street small businesses by 100% on the first $250,000 of income.  To help students afford college, the state’s share of instruction has been increased by 8.5% over the next two years.  Additionally, instructional and general fees have been frozen, at current levels, for all undergraduate students through the 2017 school year.  ‘Much has been done to improve the foundation of our economic turnaround, but we have more to do,’ said Rep. Brown.

Also, of benefit to the economy and the safety of the public, the state is spending more money on enhancing roads and bridges than during any construction period in Ohio history.  ‘We are investing in infrastructure that will make our citizens safer, and will help us to attract new business, industry and job growth in Ohio,’ said Rep. Brown

Rep. Brown is currently serving his second term in the Ohio House.  Prior to being elected to the Ohio House, Rep. Brown served four terms as a Wood County Commissioner and was the vice president of the board. He served as vice president of the County Commissioners Association of Ohio for 2012 and is the past president of the Northwest Ohio Commissioners and Engineers Association.  Rep. Brown is a 1986 graduate of Bowling Green State University’s College of Business.
