(Swanton, Ohio) — The 180th Fighter Wing will be hosting more than 30 military and civilian agencies for a joint C-17 deployment training exercise. The exercise begins May 12 and runs through May 15, 2016 at the Toledo Express Airport.
The training will provide the organizations with opportunities to practice realistic scenarios with other military units and civil authorities as a way to help build and maintain strong working relationships and improve operational capabilities.
Service members will train on the proper techniques of loading C-17 Globemaster aircraft including aircraft familiarization, pallet building, winching, chain restraint procedures, trailer and heavy equipment uploads.
The training will also incorporate aeromedical evacuation procedures including loading and unloading patients, in-flight emergency medical response, such as resuscitating a simulated patient experiencing cardiac arrest while flying.
The purpose of the exercise is to enhance mission and operational readiness, and war fighting capabilities by providing hands-on-training for the proper handling and placement of deployable assets on the C-17 and C-130 aircraft, as well as to foster joint teamwork and strengthen community partnerships while enriching inter-agency communication.
