North Baltimore Boy Scout Troop 315 Newsletter – November, 2015
We recently went to the Camp Berry’s Spooktacular. 11 of our scouts planned and ran a spook station for visitors throughout the day. 10 troops participated in the event. Our troop used make up, costumes, video projector and large sound equipment to create a murder scene . Scouts voted to do this camporee again next year and now have a good idea of what it takes to win . First prize was $500.00 and went to troop 777.
Merit Badge Training
This month, Larry Bateson will be teaching Citizenship in the Community and Nation merit badges. All scouts who do not have these should plan on attending all the meetings in November to earn these badges. They are Eagle required . You will also be visiting a council meeting in town.
Our Bowling party is planned for Sunday, November 22 from 2-4pm. Ten Pin Lanes. All scouts are invited as well as families. We will still have a meeting since merit badge is going on.
The Beef Stick fundraiser forms need to be turned in , no later than Wednesday November 4, so we can order the product. Some of our scouts and leaders have said that the fundraiser is doing well. If you didn’t get an order form. We will be ordering extra meats to fundraise through the season. The beef sticks sell for $1.00 and are a great value
I do hope you are taking orders for wreaths. Anyone needing an order form or have questions can ask either Dawn Trout or myself.
A reminder about fundraisers, We hope all our scouts take advantage of each opportunity to earn money for their scouting experience. This helps parents pay for each camp that comes up. I also helps us ensure scouts learn responsibility and commitment to their scouting program.
This is the time of year that our scouts will be needing to pay their dues . Annually, to be a Boy Scout, membership is $24.00. The push to get all scouts paid by December 31,2015 starts now. The dues go straight to the National office in Irving TX.
Wednesday, December 2. We are in charge of the Santa Visit in North Baltimore. Place is again at Bob Kelley Chevrolet. I will have more on set up and other activities as they come in. If any scouts have elf costumes , your welcome to wear them. Otherwise, Class A uniform. I will be Buddy Elf again.
Baden Powell Quote
“I have known lots of millionaires who were not happy men; they had not got all they wanted and therefore had failed to find success in life. A Singalese proverb says: “He who is happy is rich, but it does not follow that he who is rich is happy.” The really rich man is the man who has fewest wants.”
