Troopers seize $235,835 worth of marijuana in Wood County

BOWLING GREEN – Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers filed felony drug charges against a California man after a traffic stop in Wood County. During the traffic stop, troopers seized 101 pounds of marijuana valued at approximately $235,835.

On November 29, at 12:51 a.m., troopers stopped a 2012 GMC U-Haul box truck with Arizona registration for a marked lanes violation on the Ohio Turnpike. Criminal indicators were observed and a Walbridge Police Department drug-sniffing canine alerted to the vehicle. A probable cause search revealed the contraband.

The passenger, Nicholas C. Ashman, 38, of North San Juan, Calif., was incarcerated in the Wood County Justice Center and charged with possession and trafficking of marijuana, both second-degree felonies.

If convicted, he could face up to 16 years in prison and up to a $30,000 fine.
