Valgroup Packaging Solutions is holding, through its wholly-owned subsidiary Valfilm North America, an official opening event on April 24 of its unit in Findlay, Ohio, USA. The ceremony will be attended by company directors, employees, local public authorities, the press and representatives from Dow Chemical, former owner of the plant and the group’s biggest supplier in the United States.
During the event the board of directors will present the current structure of the unit, its main products, social and environmental responsibility actions and expansion plans. The acquisition of the site was announced in December 2014 and Valgroup took full ownership of operations on 01 February 2015.
“We are excited to welcome Valfilm to our community, and know that there’s a bright future for this company,” said Findlay•Hancock County Economic Development Director Anthony Iriti. “Valfilm capitalized on the opportunity to acquire an existing facility in our community and maintain a steady business stream in the process. We’re very proud to be a part of its success, and the strengthening of the Findlay-Hancock County area as a whole.”
“Valfilm’s decision to invest in Ohio demonstrates this international company’s confidence in the outstanding workforce here in Findlay,” said JobsOhio Managing Director Glenn Richardson. “We appreciate the role of Dow Company for their close work with JobsOhio, the Regional Growth Partnership, and the City of Findlay for helping attract Valfilm to the Hancock County facility, and look forward to working with Valfilm as they grow here in Northwest Ohio.”
Since the acquisition announcement, Valgroup has received great support from Findlay City Council, from the State of Ohio and also from Dow Chemical, which has spared no efforts to ensure a smooth transition process, with no interference in customer service.
The main activity at the Findlay site is the production of barrier films for food packaging, metal adhesion films and embossed films. With the arrival of new equipment in May, the unit will start the production of core and coreless pre-stretched stretch film, widely used in industrial packaging, among others. The forecast is that 2.5 million pounds a month of pre-stretched stretch film will be produced in Findlay.
