The Van Buren Black Knights put it to the North Baltimore Tigers Friday night at NB’s War Memorial Field, in Blanchard Valley Conference Football action, 51 – 0.
In the first quarter the Tigers dodged several bullets following turnovers, and were fortunate to be down only 7 – 0. Unfortunately the 2nd quarter would see VB blow the game open, as NB struggled to gain any offensive momentum. Van Buren led at the half 31 – 0.
The 3rd and 4th quarters saw the Tigers continue to have difficulty sustaining a drive, as the Van Buren defense stymied NB’s offensive weapons, finishing off the Tigers 51 – 0. VB preserved the shutout with the first team defense returning to the game late in the 4th, as the Tigers threatened to score.
For the game, Van Buren racked up 377 total yards, to 189 yards for the Tigers. NB had two interceptions and two lost fumbles.
Taylor Bishop picked up 60 rushing yards on 19 carries. Brady Rader attempted 33 passes, completing 16 for 148 yards, with two interceptions. Sean Watson had 6 catches for 44 yards; Noah Brian 6 catches for 68 yards; Chase Naugle, David Patterson and Jimmy Smith each had a reception for 10 yards; Bishop a catch for 3 yards.
NB drops to 3 – 2 overall, 1 – 2 in the BVC. Van Buren improves to 2 – 3 overall, 2 – 1 in the BVC.
Next week North Baltimore will travel to Riverdale for a chance to right the ship against the Falcons (0 – 5) in a BVC match up. Riverdale battled Arlington last night, losing 28 – 19.

I think it’s sad that a coach thinks it’s so important trouncing another team so badly that he has to put his 1st string back in to keep the losing team from scoring just once. Good sportsmanship??
C’mon Don, thats the way the black knights have always been. All I can say is “GO CHIEFTANS” when these two teams meet. I hope Hopewell gives it right back the black knights
