(Bowling Green)—The Wood County Humane Society (WCHS) will celebrate National Adopt-a-Shelter-Pet Day by holding a one-weekend-only special adoption event at its shelter on Van Camp Road in Bowling Green.
From Thursday, April 30 through Sunday, May 3, the organization will offer reduced adoption rates for many of its current residents.
That weekend only, adoption fees for all dogs over six months of age will be reduced by 50 percent and all cat adoption fees will be reduced to $5.
At the close of the weekend, two adopters will be chosen at random by shelter staff to receive a gift basket. Staff will choose one person who adopted a cat and one person who adopted a dog.
Begun to raise awareness of the thousands of shelter animals that are waiting to be adopted, National Adopt-a-Shelter-Pet Day is celebrated annually on April 30.
Regular adoption hours at the WCHS are Thursday from noon until 7 p.m. and Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from noon until 4 p.m.
