WCHS Hosts Annual Mutt Strut Event

(Bowling Green)— The Wood County Humane Society (WCHS) invites you to the upcoming Mutt Strut/Fall Feline Festival fundraising event on Sunday, October 2. The event will be held at Fort Meigs in Perrysburg and will run from 11:00 – 2:00 p.m.

The centerpiece of this annual family friendly event is a walk to raise funds for the shelter, with walkers collecting sponsor support!  Attendees are encouraged to walk with a pet, walk in memory of a pet, or even walk without a pet. Individuals can sign up to walk (and raise money) as a team on the organization’s Razoo page.

The WCHS Mutt Strut event also will feature a Beauty PAWgeant, which will begin at 12:30 pm. Throughout the day, attendees can enjoy vendors for shopping, a low cost microchip clinic, pet games including a simple agility Registration for the event will begin at 10:30am. The event is free to the public, but course, food from local food trucks, and raffles.

All participants who raise $25 or more will receive an event t-shirt, participation in the walk, an entry into the Beauty PAWgent, and an entry into the raffle! Prizes will be awarded to kids, adults and teams who raise the most funds!

Proceeds from the Mutt Strut will help provide care for the homeless and abused animals housed at the WCHS. The money raised also will help pay for special programs sponsored by the organization, like the cruelty investigation division, a spay/neuter program, and Safe Pets, which helps people escaping domestic violence situations get temporary care for their pets through the WCHS.

The WCHS, located in Bowling Green, Ohio, is a private, non-profit managed admission shelter providing care for homeless and abused pets and investigating cruelty complaints in Wood County. The organization receives no funding from government organizations, The United Way, or national humane organizations, instead relying on earned revenue and the generosity of individual donors and businesses to fund our programs such as Safe Haven and food assistance programs, spay/neuter transport, and educational presentations. The WCHS provides care for hundreds of animals each year—from dogs and cats, to horses, goats, and pocket pets. All animals admitted into our adoption program are housed and cared for as long as it takes to find their fur-ever home. For more information on adopting and/or volunteering, see:
